Once inside, the winding staircase will take you to the first floor where you’ll find a lovely, bright living room overlooking the Market Place with a table and chairs placed strategically in the bay window – perfect for people watching. The kitchen is also on this floor and has everything needed to cook up a family feast. A further run of stairs leads up to the second floor to the beautiful bathroom with large walk-in shower, toilet and stone handbasin. Just around the corner from the property, you can cut through the castle grounds which is pretty spectacular in itself, but first admire the breathtaking view of the viaduct before walking down the straggling steps to Waterside. Here you will find the riverside promenade dotted with cafés, and rowing boats that you can hire out along the river Nidd. For those keen on walking there are many local walks nearby. Visit Old Mother Shipton’s cave or meander along the Nidd Gorge. The long winding roads over the local moors offers some spectacular cycling. Knaresborough train station can be reached within a 5-minute walk with trains taking you to Harrogate in less than 10 minutes or York within half an hour. The elegant spa town of Harrogate is a brilliant day out with its Royal Pump Museum, restored Turkish baths, and of course, the famous Betty’s tea rooms, offering the best afternoon tea for miles. The walled city of York with its cobbled streets is a fabulous day out, with it’s numerous theatres, galleries and museums, or simply grab a drink at one of the many local bars before heading for a delicious meal out.
