Situated on a working dairy farm in the village of Bigrigg between the Western Lake District Coast and the Lake District National Park, Springfield Farm Cottages provide a peaceful retreat and a great base from which to explore the surrounding area. The cottages give you the best of both worlds. Whether you’re looking for a coastal retreat or a holiday full of action packed adventure, the properties tick all the boxes. They enjoy spectacular views over the adjoining land, and you can wake to see cows grazing in the fields, and there’s no traffic or noise to disturb you other than the birds in the trees and the occasional ‘moo’. Both are well equipped to offer all your home comforts and have been tastefully decorated and thoughtfully furnished throughout with guest experience in mind. You can easily walk into the village for the local shops or perhaps a quick pint! Farm Cottage (ref UKC3497) is a spacious, detached holiday home which features a lovely patio complete with garden furniture and a large area of lawn. Sleeping up to four guests, this property features a spacious double bedroom and a twin bedroom with a standard single bed and a 4 foot wide bed. Downstairs you have a living room with a wood burner for those cosy nights in, a dining room, kitchen and utility. The owner lives on site and is on hand should you need advise or assistance during your stay. Rose Cottage (ref UKC3498) is on the driveway that approaches the farm and a few hundred yards from the farmyard. This traditional sandstone detached cottage has two double bedrooms while downstairs is an attractive living/dining room with wood burner, modern kitchen and well-appointed bathroom. The property has its own garden and patio complete with garden furniture so you can sit out and soak up the morning sun. Within walking distance you’ll find the village of Bigrigg which has a shop and a pub. You’re also just 2½ miles from the popular town of Egremont which is a small market town offering a great selection of local shops and dining experiences, overlooked by the ruins of a Norman castle dating back to the 1100s. If you love the seaside, look no further than St Bees, 3 miles away. This coastal Cumbrian town with a long stretch of sandy beach is perfect for your bucket and spade. It’s also the most westerly part of Cumbria and the starting point for the famous Alfred Wainwright Coast to Coast walk. If you like cycling, be sure to bring your bikes along as there are some beautiful routes along the coast, or for a relaxing stroll or a rugged climb you can access plenty of nature trails and woodland walks. Within a short drive you can climb the highest mountain in England, Scafell Pike. Head to the east and within 3 miles is the UNESCO World Heritage Site, The Lake District National Park. Here you’ll find arguably the most spectacular scenery in the country, and with access to the highest fells in the Lake District and the most picturesque lakes you won’t go far wrong. Ennerdale Water is just 7 miles away with beautiful rivers and dense forestry. Buttermere, Borrowdale and Loweswater are also easily accessed. Travel south and you can ride La’al Ratty, a miniature steam railway that is a must with the children. To the north is the coastal town of Whitehaven with its popular harbour. Shop and pub ½ mile and restaurant 2 miles. These properties can be booked together to accommodate up to 8 guests.
