Adjoining one another, Fryup Gill Cottages lie in a stunning setting with the most wonderful, far-reaching views across the Esk Valley. Fryup Dale is a picturesque, peaceful green farming valley in North Yorkshire set around breathtaking countryside of the North York Moors, and is one of seven dales of the River Esk - Great Fryup Dale, Little Fryup Dale, Glaisdale, Rosedale, Danby Dale, Westerdale and Commondale. The Coast to Coast Trail runs at the top of the dale. This is an ideal location for a relaxing break, and also great for walkers and bikers. There are many routes and bridleways amongst wonderful scenery, which looks like a patchwork quilt made up of stone walls, hedges, farms and cottages. The cottages are on the same site as Yorkshire Cycle Hub and a café, where there is a cycle shop and bikes to hire. If you don’t fancy cooking you can have a ‘Great Fryup’ breakfast at the Hub, or enjoy other delicious homemade snacks and cakes and great local coffee. The cottages are spacious and have all the modern amenities required for a great holiday. Both also have an enclosed garden with seating areas - the perfect place to enjoy the views. They make a perfect base for visiting this stunning area. The seaside town of Whitby is just 13 miles away, and is famous for its wonderful abbey perched on the cliff top, which is said to have been the inspiration of Bram Stoker’s book, Dracula. There are lots of independent cafés, shops and art studios as well as the shops selling Whitby Jet, an organic gemstone famous in this area. The Cleveland Way goes down this coastline, and for those of you who enjoy walking, there are some fantastic walks along the clifftops from Whitby down to Robin Hood’s Bay. Whitby is also famous for the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway, which runs between Whitby and the market town of Pickering. It runs across the beautiful North York Moors, and you can stop off at Goathland, home to the fictional village ‘Aidensfield’ in the TV programme, ‘Heartbeat’. Fryup Gill Cottage 2 can be booked together with Fryup Gill Cottage 1 (ref UK10951) to accommodate up to 10 guests. Free WiFi
