The Lynton to Lynmouth cliff railway makes for an excellent day out, whilst Croyde and Woolacombe have some of the best surf beaches in the country, as well as many smaller coves and bays. Exmoor is a short distance away, and on a clear day the views can be spectacular. National Trust properties in the area include Arlington and Knightshayes, and there are RHS gardens at Rosemoor, Great Torrington. Golf, fishing and cycling are all available locally.
