This gorgeous cottage is nestled within the rural hamlet of Meidrim with the scenic river of Afon Dewi Fawr running through it. Here you will find a traditional Welsh pub with locally brewed ales only a stone’s throw away and is set just outside the village of St Clears, hosting a fine butchers and grocery shop. Both St Clears and the town of Carmarthen are within an easy 10/15-minute drive offering a range of eateries. Carmarthen is cited as the oldest town in Wales and with legendary connections to Merlin. It is also becoming widely known for its collection of individual art galleries lining King Street. Centrally positioned you are within easy reach of the beaches of Pendine – known for the making of land speed records - and Amroth and Llansteffan, along with the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and Preseli mountains offering sublime views and fantastic walks. The picturesque town of Laugharne with its 12th century castle overlooking the estuary is nearby and most famous for its links with poet Dylan Thomas. Every year it hosts ‘The Laugharne Weekend’ celebrating art and literature. Bwthyn Dewi is set over three levels with a focal oak staircase leading through the property. The living room is on the ground floor. A modern and highly efficient wood burner invites you to ‘cwtch up’ with a glass of wine and a good movie. On the lower ground floor, you will discover the open plan kitchen and dining area with underfloor heating, finished with a modern contemporary feel. The lawned garden is located just off the kitchen and here you will find your very own private hot tub – perfect for stargazing - and with a separate wet room and utility area. The setting is perfect for making the most of both coast and countryside – Gwili steam railways, National Botanical Gardens and the National Wool Museum at Dre-Fach Felindre make for interesting days out, all within a 40-minute drive. A brilliant day out is sure to be had at the walled town of Tenby, exploring the narrow, cobbled streets with many craft, gift and coffee shops on your way to the harbour. Why not take a boat trip to Caldey Island to see the Cistercian monks and maybe spot a red squirrel or two, or embark upon a fishing trip one afternoon, bringing home your freshly caught mackerel to enjoy for supper!
