Welcome to Railway Cottage, a beautiful two bedroom holiday home set in a quiet location in the heart of the seaside town of Minehead, just 150m from the beach and overlooking the West Somerset Steam Railway station. Railway Cottage has been beautifully renovated in 2021 giving you a modern holiday home with a traditional Somerset cottage feel. The open plan living/dining room has comfortable seating, Smart TV, Wi-Fi, and enjoys views over the garden. The kitchen is fully equipped with fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, induction hob and electric oven. On the ground floor you will also find the large shower room, with double shower and heated towel rail. Upstairs the two bedrooms are a great size and have a relaxing feel, they both have hanging space for clothes and USB charging points. The main bedroom has a king size bed and fabulous views over the garden towards the steam railway station, whilst the second bedroom is rear facing and has twin beds, making this cottage perfect for families, friends and couples. Outside, to the front, there is a pretty garden with seating area, the perfect spot to relax after a day visiting the local attractions or walking in the Exmoor National Park! The rear courtyard offers access to the utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer and ironing facilities. There is private parking for one vehicle at the rear of the cottage with additional roadside parking available nearby or in the adjacent car park. Coast meets country in Minehead, and you have many options, whether you want to use the car or not! From the doorstep you can walk to the seafront with its sandy beach and harbour, the town centre with its varied shops, bars, cafés and restaurants, whilst the nearest major supermarket is just a few minutes away along a footpath adjacent to the steam railway. Stroll along the Esplanade towards the picturesque harbour and you will come to the start of the South West Coast Path covering 630 miles of pathways spanning four counties! Head up the first stretch to North Hill and admire the stunning views along the Bristol Channel and across to the Welsh coastline! Exmoor National Park is within easy reach and has miles and miles of breathtaking countryside to enjoy; look out for the native Exmoor ponies, red deer and free roaming sheep! Take a drive out onto the moor later in the day and witness stunning sunsets, particularly above Porlock, and being a designated dark sky area, a bit of star gazing is a must, weather permitting of course! Be sure to head up to Dunkery Beacon, Exmoor’s highest point rising to 1705 feet, and don’t forget to take in the pretty villages on the way, like medieval Dunster with its castle, the thatched cottages and beautiful church at Selworthy and the charming village of Porlock with its harbour and weir, then when you’re ready for some refreshment, you’ll find an abundance of tea rooms and country pubs where you can sample excellent local fare, a traditional cream tea and maybe even some local Somerset Cider or Exmoor ale!
