A warm welcome awaits at Jack’s, a beautifully restored, self catered cottage tucked away behind the bustling market square in the historic market town of Richmond. Expect an eclectic style where traditional blends beautifully with modern furnishings to provide guests with a high level of comfort. The living room is cosy and inviting with an inglenook fireplace set with electric stove, two-seater sofas, a drop leaf table, a TV with Freeview play-record player which includes Netflix, a CD player and a selection of CD’s for your entertainment. The contemporary style kitchen has stylish blue units, oak finish worktops and all new, modern appliances and kitchen accessories. The kitchen leads out into a courtyard with amazing views of the castle. Here you can sit in peace and tranquillity and enjoy private views of the Castle just beyond its walls. Conveniently situated just a short stroll from the market square, there are an excellent choice of eating places, pubs and coffee shops, the cobbled streets a joy to amble around with independent shops and galleries. The cottage neighbours Richmond’s famous Norman castle and its grounds. Walk in the other direction and you’ll find yourselves at the waterfalls. Richmond is steeped in history and is an architectural gem with its Georgian theatre, medieval abbey at Easby and picturesque market square where you can sit and watch the world go by. The famous Norman castle dominates the skyline, with circular walks around the riverbanks taking you past The Station, a bustling centre hosting art and craft exhibitions, a three-screen cinema, café, independent shops, a micro-brewery and an ice cream parlour. On the same site there is an indoor swimming pool and health club. To enjoy the wider area, visit one of the many pretty Yorkshire towns or villages, such as Thirsk, Ripon, Harrogate, Leyburn, Hawes, or Reeth, all of which are close by. With the opportunity to watch the horse racing at Catterick and York racecourses. The cathedral city of Durham is just over half an hour away, and is certainly worth a day trip to explore, as is historic Barnard Castle and Bowes Museum. Free WiFi
