Wolsingham is a beautiful small town situated on the banks of the River Wear at the entrance to Weardale. The area offers an abundance of things to see and do, from nature trails to Dark Sky Discovery Sites. The town itself has a good range of shops, pubs, and restaurants located within 1 mile of the property. The property provides a great base for walking, fishing, cycling and exploration of the beautiful countryside. Take in woodland trails around Stanhope, Tunstall Reservoir and Pow Hill Country Park, all within 16 miles. Drive to Hamsterley Forest (6 miles) for wildlife, walking, and cycling trails. Bike hire and pony trekking is available nearby or visit the Weardale Heritage Railway at Wolsingham, or you could visit the town of Bishop Auckland or the historic city of Durham (all within 16 miles) with its magnificent cathedral and castle, lovely river walks, quirky shops, great bars, and restaurants.
