Lace up your boots, pack a picnic and head out with everyone in tow for a family friendly walk up Irton Pike (2 miles). If you fancy a refreshing dip followed by a waterside picnic, make the 4 mile journey to the southern tip of Wastwater where the water is crystal clear. The adventurous among you can book activities such as ghyll scrambling, paddleboarding and kayaking for an entertaining afternoon. Just 5 miles away, visit Ravenglass, the only coastal village in the Lake District and home to the Roman Bath Houses. Head inside via the rear of the property where you will find a handy cloakroom to leave boots, leads and coats. The kitchen has a wood burner to keep you warm as you cook dinner, and is equipped with an oven, halogen hob, microwave and dishwasher. In the utility room, find a washing machine, tumble dryer and a fridge/freezer. To keep you entertained whilst cooking, there is an Alexa Dot. Plate up in the lounge/diner, a lovely, tranquil space with another wood burner to keep the chill at bay. After dinner, settle on the sofa with a book from the shelf, pick a board game and get competitive or switch on the TV. When it s time for bed, head up to the first and second floors to get comfortable for the night. On the first floor you will find the twin bedroom (can be made up as super king size on request at time of booking), a double bedroom with ornamental fireplace, and a single bedroom suited to a child (three quarter length bed). All three of these rooms have beautiful, exposed floorboards and are decorated in calming, neutral tones. There is a shower room with walk in shower and WC on this floor. Head up to the second floor where you can reach the final bedroom: a single with queen sized bed with quirky sloping ceiling situated in the attic of the home. Also with a sloping ceiling is the family bathroom with free standing, roll top bath with shower attachment and WC. In the morning, take your mug of coffee outside to enjoy it in the fresh air. The partially enclosed garden is reached by crossing the country lane outside the cottage and stepping through a gate. Once here, you have your own private garden from which you can enjoy the spectacular fell views from the table and chairs. There is limited parking at the front of the property, which is next to the road. If there is no space to park here, there is further parking about 50 yards down the road.
