Within 7 miles of the peaceful Ullswater, Troutbeck is a paradise for fell walkers and cyclists alike. Spend a day on the water by hiring a kayak or for a more leisurely pace, hop aboard one of the Ullswater steamers for a gentle cruise. Historians will love exploring the rooms at Dalemain, an impressive stately home 8.5 miles away, whilst the gothic ruins of Lowther Castle, 12 miles away, are well worth a visit. For keen hikers and hillwalkers tackling Helvellyn, one of the highest mountains in the Lake District is a must, and the pretty woodland and tumbling waterfalls at Aira Force (4.5 miles) are just stunning. For some retail therapy, head to either Penrith or Keswick, both within 10 miles and both offering independent retailers, pubs, cafes and restaurants. Sleeping four plus two canine chums, this reverse level property has been designed to make the most of its beautiful surroundings, enjoying lovely views of Blencathra from the living space. There are two delightful ground floor bedrooms. Bright yet cosy, there is one double bedroom and one twin room each with good storage and simple, comfortable furnishings. The shower room is also located on the ground floor. Upstairs to the first floor you are welcomed into the open plan living space. The hub of the house, it is ideal for cosy, social evenings with warm wooden floors and exposed beams complemented with cream walls and tasteful decor. The kitchen is equipped with an electric oven and hob, fridge and microwave. Gather to dine at the table before retiring to the comfortable sofa to enjoy a DVD and an after dinner aperitif. Your pup will love snoozing in pole position after a busy day exploring the fells. There is ample parking in front of the cottage and the Troutbeck Inn serving good food is just across the courtyard.
