The tiny hamlet of High Bankhill is half a mile from the village of Kirkoswald where you will find two friendly pubs and a choice of footpaths and bridleways. The village of Little Salkeld (5 miles) is home to Lacy s Caves, Long Meg and Her Daughters, and a working watermill. The popular market town of Penrith (9 miles) has plenty of great places to eat and drink. To the east is the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (5 miles), with the quaint village of Alston nearby (13 miles). Heading west into the Lake District National Park (14 miles), Ullswater is the nearest lake (17 miles), offering plenty of opportunities for water sports, boat cruises and unforgettable lakeside walks. Entering this historic property, you will see a date stone over the doorway which leads into the cross passage. Going through to the gorgeous lounge you will find a characterful space full of charm and warmth. This is an ideal space to unwind in, with plenty of comfortable seating, a delightful window seat, a fire window, a feature stove set in an inglenook, and wooden beams as well as an original Yorkshire window and spice cupboard. Exploring this wonderful house further, the country style kitchen/diner is perfect for rustling up your favourite meals, and is equipped with an electric oven, gas hob and fridge, as well as a lovely dining table and plenty of seating so you can catch up with a good book in peace. Heading up the steep spiral stone staircase, the first floor offers three cosy bedrooms, all with impressive exposed ceiling beams and low sloping ceilings. There are two beautiful double rooms the master bedroom has its original 18th century window and wide cut floorboards; and the cosy twin room also features a hayloft window. There s also a quirky bathroom with a feature Victorian cast iron bath, WC and cast iron radiators. Going outside, the back garden is enclosed and features outdoor furniture, providing an ideal spot to relax on a sunny afternoon. Off road parking is available on the driveway for two cars.
