Enjoy challenging hikes nearby, from Blencathra (5 miles) and Glenridding (7.5 miles) to lofty Helvellyn (13 miles). On rest days, visit Threlkeld Quarry and Mining Museum (5 miles), discover the Theatre by the Lake in Keswick (8.5 miles), and shop on the cobbled lanes of Penrith (9 miles). Discover the National Trust Townend farmhouse (6.5 miles) in the Troutbeck Valley a favourite landscape of author Beatrix Potter. Or visit Wordsworth s former home (17 miles) in the village of Grasmere, which he called the loveliest spot that man hath ever found . Marvel at Aira Force cascades near Ullswater where you can cruise on a vintage steamer (7 miles). On arrival, step into this pretty cottage where you ll find traditional country style interiors with cheery pops of colour. The sunny ground floor features an open plan kitchen, dining, and living area. There s also a sleek contemporary style bathroom on the ground floor with a shower over the bath and a WC. Amble upstairs to the mezzanine area where you ll find a double bedroom with a gorgeous sleigh bed, characterful sloped ceiling areas, a wonderful reading armchair, and spacious wardrobes. Outside, you ll find ample parking in front of the cottage. There are two further holiday cottages on site if you have a large party, all three can be booked together. There s also a pub on site with free Wi Fi and a wonderful food menu so you can dine out every night and enjoy the short walk home.
