This is a beautifully refurbished semi-detached cottage set in the lovely village of St Columb Minor near Newquay, Cornwall. Set just outside the lovely village of Porth is this lovely cottage, perfect for a family beach holiday and for touring this pretty part of the country.
As soon as you set foot inside the door you sense the wonderful family home from home feel that follows you around the cottage. The cottage is set over three floors and on entering through the porch into the hallway you turn into the comfortable spacious sitting room with an open fire to gather around, for those cooler evenings. You then go through into the beautifully light and airy dining area and well-equipped kitchen, both of which look out onto the garden and fields beyond. The bedrooms are all on the first floor, a king-size double and a twin bedroom which has the flexibility of becoming a super king-size double bed on request, both having the advantage of en-suite showers, whilst the children’s bunk bedroom and the single room have the family bathroom in between the two. Finally in the second floor attic space, and bound to be a favourite with the children, there is their own den/playroom/study with games, jigsaws, toys, books and DVDs, providing hours of entertainment. Outside, the enclosed walled garden with patio and splendid countryside views is a wonderfully relaxing place to spend time after a walk back from the beach. The quiet village of St Columb Minor benefits from a supermarket which is just a short walk away from your cottage and there is also the Farmers Arms, literally just around the corner from the cottage and an excellent local pub. Newquay has many beaches to offer but, for families, the beach closest to you, which is a pleasant walk across the fields from the cottage, is Porth beach and is well worth a visit. The town, with its shopping centre, zoo, sea life centre and varied selection of restaurants and pubs, also promises a holiday to remember. The lovely harbour and fishing village of Padstow is just fourteen miles away from this delightful cottage and Truro, with its museums, cathedral, restaurants and cobbled streets, as well as the Eden Project, is only half an hour away. With so much to do and see, staying in such a wonderful cottage will be one to remember.
Porth is a small seaside village on the outskirts of Newquay. The village offers a shop, cafés, restaurants and a pub on the sandy beach, plus nearby is the South West Coast Path, which boasts spectacular scenery. Watergate Bay, with its rolling waves, surf schools, café and pubs, is a short walk away, and the popular resort of Newquay with its beaches, watersports, pubs, restaurants, zoo and aquarium is well worth a visit.
