With an open plan living area with a double bed, sitting area and kitchenette plus a shower room with a heated towel rail, this holiday home is compact, but a perfect spot to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Outside this cottage is a small sitting area with endless footpaths and bridleways to explore in every direction. You will always find somewhere to simply sit back and enjoy this mesmerising landscape. Just 200 yards from the cottage door there is a footpath leading to Moss Eccles Tarn and Claife Heights. The views from Claife Heights over Lake Windermere are spellbinding – don’t forget to take your camera! Just up the road is The Tower Bank Arms Inn and of course, Hill Top, home to Beatrix Potter meaning that without even moving the car you will find lots and lots to do. There is fishing available on Esthwaite Water and lots of lovely shops and tearooms to enjoy in Hawkshead itself. Why not explore the other side of Lake Windermere by taking the car ferry from Far Sawrey and cruise over to Bowness-on-Windermere where you will find a colourful mix of shops and restaurants? Also the beautiful walled gardens at Holehird, just out of Windermere, are a delight at any time of year. This sweet cottage is compact but a perfect base for couples or just one person to explore this beautiful area.
The village of Sawrey is situated two miles from Hawkshead, overlooked by the woods and tarns of Claife Heights. Sawrey consists of two separate hamlets - Near Sawrey and Far Sawrey. Near Sawrey is famous for Hill Top,where Beatrix Potter wrote her acclaimed children's stories. and is now a museum, owned and run by the National Trust. Far Sawrey is the hamlet furthest away from Hawkshead and the nearest to the ferry point on Windermere. There are good walks in the area, including those to Claife Heights and in Grizedale Forest.
