Once entering this cottage on the ground floor there is a beautiful bathroom with free-standing bath, separate shower, basin and WC together with a well-equipped kitchen. There are two sitting rooms, both with woodburners, and one having a sofa bed for flexibility in sleeping arrangements. Upstairs there are two double bedrooms. Outside there is a large enclosed garden with furniture where you can sit and relax with a refreshing drink and a good book. From this cottage there are superb walking opportunities including Sutton Bank with its exceptional panoramic views. Not to be missed is the James Herriot Museum in Thirsk, and picturesque Helmsley is famous for its beautiful hanging baskets throughout the summer months. There is easy access to the seaside towns of Whitby and Scarborough. With the magnificent historic city of York, Ripon and Harrogate a short drive from the cottage, there is a wide choice of activities for all guests to enjoy.
With the gateway to the North York Moors National Park to the east and Yorkshire Dales National Park to the west, the bustling town of Thirsk boasts a quaint market place, splendid Georgian buildings, a Norman church and excellent pubs, shops, restaurants, a cinema and a leisure centre. Visit the World of James Herriott Museum, dedicated to the life and works of the townÂ’s own famous vet and author or explore the surrounding rolling countryside and Hambleton Hills, offering excellent walking opportunities. The cathedral city of York and the beautiful East Coast are within easy driving distance.
